They say that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach and for the last six years, I have done alright in that department. However, his birthday was last month, and what did I do? I didn’t do anything, that’s what. My reasonings for not doing so were valid though! So a simple request was put in by him, Oreo truffles. This request alone took me nearly a month just to put into action. So here we are …
What you’ll need for Oreo Truffles:
• 450g Oreos (3 x 150gm packets)
• 250g cream cheese, cubed
• 375g milk chocolate melts
• Chocolate sprinkles
How to make the Oreo Truffles:
01. Place all the Oreo biscuits (I used the chocolate filled ones) into a food processor and blitz them up to a find crumb.
02. Add the cream cheese to the crumb mix and pulse until it’s well combined.
03. Roll out the mixture into small balls and place them onto a lined baking tray, then put them into the fridge to firm up, about 20 minutes.
04. When ready, melt the chocolate melts in the microwave for 30 seconds, mix the chocolate and continue to microwave in 30 second bursts until it’s completely melted.
05. Dip each truffle ball into the chocolate using a fork and tapping off any excess chocolate before placing it back onto the baking tray. Top them off with some chocolate sprinkles, or if you’d like to add some colour, some hundreds and thousands.
06. Place into the fridge to set, or if you want to eat them ASAP, pop them into the freezer.
Some tips:
• I found the Cadbury chocolate melts to be a lot smoother than the Nestle ones.
• I put left over chocolate into a zip lock bag and froze it so I could use it another time.
• If you don’t have a sweet tooth like myself, make the balls a lot smaller, these ones were a tablespoon each and I found them a little sickly, but I’m weak when it comes to sweets.
